Tour the Sgt. Alvin C. York Home

Join the State Museum for an exciting day trip to the
Sgt. Alvin C. York Home

The Tennessee State Museum continues its immensely popular Exploring Tennessee bus trip series with an exciting day trip to the Sgt. Alvin C. York Home on Saturday, November 14. On this day-long expedition, we will journey to the home of Alvin C. York, America's renowned World War I hero, in Pall Mall, TN.

During this curator-led excursion, guests can relax during the round-trip motor coach ride to Pall Mall, which will feature scholars’ presentations, tours of the state historic park property, a local lunch stop, and a viewing of the classic 1941 Gary Cooper film, Sergeant York. Participants will step back in time while enjoying the stunning autumn beauty of the unspoiled Wolf River Valley, a rich landscape which profoundly shaped York's incredible life. The trip will leave Nashville at 8:30 a.m. and will return around 7 p.m.

Dr. Lisa Budreau, the museum’s senior curator of Military History, and Dr. Michael Birdwell, noted World War I historian and Tennessee Tech University professor, will provide insight and context throughout the day. With the U.S. approaching the 100th anniversary of its entry into the Great War, this trip offers a timely opportunity to take a closer look at one of the Volunteer State’s most celebrated sons. Travel with us as we discover the extent of York’s impact during his admirable overseas military service, as well as the indelible contributions he made in his home territory in Fentress County.
