Tennessee State Museum and Nashville Public Television Present a Free Screening and Discussion of MAKERS: Women in War

A documentary on American women’s participation in war and the military from Vietnam to the present will be shown at a free screening on Sunday, May 15, at 2 p.m. at the Tennessee State Museum. Co-presented by the Nashville Public Television, the film is entitled Makers: Women in War, and is free. The film will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A featuring local female veterans.

Serving on the panel are Dr. Lisa Budreau, the museum’s Senior Curator of Military History; Marjorie K. Eastman, President and COO of the YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee and a former U.S. Army Intelligence Officer and Commander; and Mary Ross, U.S. Army (Ret.) and former deputy executive director of Operation Stand Down Tennessee.

“Today women comprise about 10 percent of all living veterans. By 2030, women will make up about 15 percent of all veterans,” according to Ross. “The needs of female veterans can differ greatly from those of their male counterparts. Our goal is to help our community be aware of these specific needs and to offer services tailored to meet the emerging needs of all veterans.”
