Tennessee: Its Land & People

Grades: 3-12

Tennessee is a rich state in both the land and the culture. For more than two hundred years, this land we call Tennessee has shaped its people and in turn the people have shaped the land.

Using a gigantic (20 ft.) floor map of Tennessee, you and your students will explore our state from Mountain City to Memphis and all locations in between. They will learn the natural resources our state affords us and the products that we harvest from this land. You will create a giant product map that rolls learning about Tennessee culture, landforms, people, and geography into one fun and interactive learning experience.

Lessons will focus on regions, landforms, waterways, the three grand divisions, and natural resources and how our state has shaped the lives and settlement patterns of Tennesseans for generations.

Trunk highlights include:

  • Giant floor map of Tennessee (20 ft long)
  • Props for map, including corn, coal, Elvis, flowers, and more!
  • Labels of the landforms and waterways of Tennessee
  • Images of famous Tennesseans
