News Hollywood Holidays — For further information Nashville, Tenn.--- November, 2007 – A selection of eight rarely seen costumes from the renowned Debbie Reynolds Costume Collection, including the pink strapless satin gown actress Marilyn Monroe wore in the 1953 film musical, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, will be on display at the Tennessee State Museum throughout the holiday season.
The collection includes the knockout gold sparkler that actress Barbra Streisand glittered in during the 1969 film, Hello Dolly. Also included from Ms. Reynolds collection is a show gown designed for her by award-winning fashion designer Bob Mackie, as well as the outfit she wore when she starred in Tammy and the Bachelor, along with gowns worn by Madonna in Evita and Elizabeth Taylor in Raintree County. Ensembles worn by the actors collectively known as “The Rat Pack” — Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop and Sammy Davis, Jr. — will also be on display. The costumes, which are valued at several million dollars, will be on view at the State Museum free of charge through January 13, 2008. This showing from Reynolds world-famous collection is expected to be the final statewide opportunity to see a selection of the costumes, prior to the opening of the actress’s Hollywood Motion Picture Museum. Reynolds’ museum will be located in Pigeon Forge’s new Belle Island Village, slated for completion sometime in 2008. The Tennessee State Museum is located at Fifth and Deaderick Streets in downtown Nashville. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
