Upcoming Events

The Tennessee State Museum hosts a wide range of FREE, fascinating events and educational programs throughout the year. Advance reservations are not required, unless indicated on the listing. For seated events, seats are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Painting the Smokies Family Day

We are kicking off our first Family Day of 2022 with the Painting the Smokies exhibition. This free event will be filled with fun activities that will bring the Smokies to your family at the State Museum, such as crafts, storytime, and a scavenger hunt. Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park and Cumberland River Compact will also have activities on site for families to enjoy.

Ketch Secor, Old Crow Medicine Show founder and the author of the Appaclachian-tale Lorraine, will be reading his story at 10:30 a.m. in the Museum’s Children’s Gallery. A multi-instrumentalist and Grammy award-winning musician, Ketch Secor is front man and fiddler for Old Crow Medicine Show. Described variously as alt-country, folk, and mountain music revivalists, Old Crow is an American roots string band with punk rock attitude and energy who became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2013.
