GRAPHIC DESIGNER | EXHIBITIONS (open through August 17, 2021)
The Tennessee State Museum (TSM) is seeking a motivated graphic designer with strong technical skills, a good eye for typography, and a background working on exhibitions and/or other spatial design projects. Main responsibilities include working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary project teams to design immersive, story-driven exhibitions focused on the visitor experience. Design elements may include wall graphics, banners/scrims, artifact labels, visitor wayfinding, gallery guides, and visitor interactives (digital and environmental). TSM welcomes a broad spectrum of visitors from the Nashville area and from state, regional, national, and international origins. TSM seeks to engage with all visitors and to present stories of Tennesseans that are representative and inclusive.
Under the supervision of the Director of Exhibitions, the graphic designer is responsible for researching available content and materials; presenting design ideas and concepts, implementing design strategies, graphic standards, and information hierarchies; generating graphic layouts, templates, and elevations; coordinating the design review process; achieving high-quality production through collaboration with vendors, meticulous material selection, prototyping, and color testing; and overseeing graphics installation.
EXHIBITIONS COORDINATOR/PREPARATOR | EXHIBITIONS (open through August 17, 2021)
The Tennessee State Museum (TSM) Exhibitions Department is seeking a coordinator/preparator to serve an integral role in the planning, installation, fabrication, and maintenance of permanent gallery displays and temporary exhibitions. Key areas of coordination include creating and updating documents and databases, ability to read and follow design plans and construction drawings, overseeing installation crews, and capacity to follow instructions precisely with meticulous attention to detail.
The position is an essential part of TSM’s interdepartmental approach to developing immersive, story-driven exhibitions focused on the visitor experience. TSM welcomes a broad spectrum of visitors from the Nashville area and from state, regional, national, and international origins.
